I'm sure avoiding acknowledgement of death is part of it! BTW, an art collector who helped with the Bloom exhibition told me that when he first called the wife of the owner of Cadaver on a Table, she said "Oh, you mean that horrible painting we've been keeping in the closet for decades?" So yeah, people really go to great lengths to hide evidence of death...
